I love you... HoI2....

Yesterday, like... I spent HOURS playing as Japan in Hearts of Iron 2, with the intent of invading America....

But then today, I started it up after getting home from work... And OY! My transports could drop my -ridiculously elite- marines onto an island in western Hawaii, but I couldn't cross over onto Pearl Harbor... because my transport ships didn't have far enough range, but I could find no way to upgrade them...

This made an invasion of America IMPOSSIBLE. I must have been doing something wrong. *shrug*

It's frustrating to spend 10+ years doing nothing but preparing for a war... and then come-to-find-out it's impossible to land troops on Hawaii.

I did get Wake, Midway, Guam, Johnson Island, Manila, and all of Vietnam, though...
Which... happened in the first five seconds of the invasion, and then there was a standstill.... and my troops couldn't advance... and then the American navy started fighting me... but I won, most of the time, cuz like I said, I had been preparing for... TEN YEARS!

Bleh.

Then I started a game as Germany...

------------------FUN---------------------------

Yay for Anschluss and the Munich Treaty. Hah. Silly Neville Chamberline and his 'Peace in out Time.' Bwahahaha.

I played it slightly differently from how Germany did....

I did some string-pulling, and then... oh-so-dramatically SWEPT INTO POLAND AND OMG IT WASN'T EVEN A FIGHT IT WAS A TOTAL SLAUGHTER AND POLAND HAD ONE OF THE BEST ARMIES IN THE WORLD AND I WALKED RIGHT ON TOP OF THEM....

BUT!

Whe Poland suggested peace terms, I accepted. Why? Because I didn't want to take MORE than I could handle.

The next moment, Poland joined the Allies... and I 'had my hands clean' so to speak. Then I send all my troops to the de-milatarized Rhineland, which sent up red flags for England and France... so I pulled them out... and in... like... a week, I conquered all of Hungary.

Oh, and Poland is a very fragmented nation that is little more than a buffer between me and the Soviet Union.

I have to go- more later.

-----the next morning----

Okay, I should be doing school, but Nihongo Web is down... so I'm here... goofing off. (gasp)

Aaaanyway... Yesh... Germany is the r0x0rz in fun. I saved (something Hitler didn't have. Poor guy) and then I invaded the Netherlands, which were extremely wealthy/industrial. And then... after a few days, the Allies declared war on me.
SO. I'm thinking about pushing my armies south east, and head towars Yugoslavia, Romania, Greece, and perhaps even Turkey/the MiddleEast area.

Why?

Because a majority of these nations (if not all of them) do not have their independance guarenteed by the allies.
Plus, to fight the allies, I'd have the Brits bombing me from England, plus the risk of them landing troops in my poorly-defended-shores... then I'd have to fight the French in a land war, which (from saving/testing) would prove very difficult. Then the fact that Poland, while not a superpower like France or England, is still packing a decent army, and I can't afford to split my army in half to fight the Polish...

And then, to top it all off, there's the Russia factor. I have no flippin idea what they're doing, but they COULD join the allies and smash me from Finland/Latvia and Estonia....

Or they could just... act independantly and take over everything or something. (Although, in a straight up 1 on 1 war, I feel confident that I could pwn the Soviet Union...)

So yah.

WHOAH!

What if I did that? Slipped up into Estonia... left the Polish buffer... and then pushed in towards Moscow....

Wow.... that's brilliant.... I might have to try that....

Oh, and my industrial capacity is insane, too. It's like.... 220-ish, which means... I can produce like, 12 infantrie divisions, and 3 high-level panzer devisions all at the same time...

In comparison to all the other games I've played, I've been able to build like... 4 infantry divisions at a time.... so this is insane.

OHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! AND I FORGOT THE BEST PART ABOUT PLAYING AS GERMANY!

Not only does my government consist of men like Hitler and Goebels... but after making a devision of 12 panzers, I needed someone good to command them, (this game is very complex....)
And I was scrolling through the list of possible commanders... and GUESS WHO'S NAME I SAW!!!

Why... none other than the Desert Fox himself... Rommel!!

So yes, my favorite brigade is like.... these 12 highly upgraded panzer divisions under the command of Rommel. ^_^

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
And in the world outside of Nazi Germany....
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

This weekend is Duck Creek days... which has suprisingly not been busy, except for breakfast. Today should be busier, though. Since it's Saturday.
They're doing a Mexican buffet or Barbecue plate, all with plastic dishes and silverwear. It's been insane organizing it all and dealing with the plethora of problems, though... I could describe it... as a lot like when I was on student council, exept 1) I'm not the one in charge, and 2) I'm getting paid to do this stuff.

Yesterday a big bus-tub full of water, that happens to be stainless steel with sharp pointed edges along the sides, propped up in the sink....
and I had it full of water, so it was stinkin' heavy...
and it slipped... and caught my hands...
and there was blood...
and it was bad...
and I was in pain....
So I headed into the bathroom, cleaned myself up, wrapped a bit of paper towel around my bloodiest finger, and then slipped on some disposable gloves and went back to work.
It still stings. *sigh* Stupid me....

In the past few days, I called Sayaka-san, one of the tutors. That was neat. She was like 'Mooshi mooshi!' and I was like... 'Hello.... '
She got me all set up on what to do when I call and stuff.
(I'd say mooshi mooshi, but I didn't know what to expect. What if she started jabbering on in Japanese....)(That's happened to me before....)

So yah. I need to work on family stuff. The silly Japanese have different words for YOUR family, or for MY family. Just when I thought the Japanese language was someone practical, it's far from it.
Fortunately, for most words, you just stick 'go' onto the begining or 'san' onto the end.
Example:

Shujin, goshujin.
oji, ojisan.

So yah... must practice that.

And figure out how to do these assignments and get the points I need...

Hm. I hope I can get a full 40 hours of work this week. That would be sweet.

Well.... I guess I'm done.

Oh. Apparenty, Jessy has a Taiwanese cousin looking for an American penpal, and my aunt and Jessy are trying to get us set up.
I emailed Jessy(ie?) a few nights ago to get the girls e-mail or something. Apparently our e-mails will be monitored and her parents are super strict or something? Sounds odd...
Her name, supposedly, is Wan-Chi.
That'd be cool if I could like... help her with English and stuff.
Too bad she isn't Japanese... nor does she speak Japanese.... But hey, it's still super cool.
Yeah... Apparently Jessy and my aunt and stuff are like... really impressed that 'someone else in the family' is learning an Asian language.

Hm.

Now I have to go to work, confound it.
